|KOHLER CO. OFFERS WIDEST SELECTION OF WATERSENSE-LABELED PLUMBING PRODUCTS |
|Since the inception of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WaterSense program in 2007, Kohler Co. has been a strong supporter, acting as an industry leader promoting the product labeling program and driving awareness of the world’s water issues. At the end of 2010, Kohler offered the most models of WaterSense labeled plumbing products of any manufacturer with products in all WaterSense plumbing categories – toilets, bathroom faucets, showerheads/handshowers, flushing urinal fixtures and flushing urinal valves. |
Mirroring WaterSense’s primary goal of encouraging water efficiency and the use of water-efficient products that perform as well as or better than their less efficient counterparts, Kohler’s three major plumbing brands, Kohler, Sterling and Kallista, provide homeowners with water-conserving solutions for all bathroom plumbing.
“The addition of urinals and showerheads to the WaterSense program has allowed for a comprehensive water-savings solution for the bathroom as a whole,” said Rob Zimmerman, manager of engineering, water conservation, and sustainability for Kohler Co. “Kohler Co. made a commitment to being a leader and innovator when the program began, and we have backed that commitment by continuing to develop and certify products in every plumbing category of the WaterSense program.”
Kohler’s expansive array of products certified to carry the WaterSense label includes:
• (538 models) single- and dual- flush high efficiency toilets with gravity, power and pressure assist flushing technologies
• (150 models) single- and two-handle bathroom faucets in widespread and centerset installations
• (9 models) multi-function showerheads and handshowers
• (3 models) 1/8 gallon-per-flush (gpf) and 0.5 gpf urinal fixtures
• (4) flushometer valves
According to EPA, the average family of four uses about 400 gallons of water each day, and bathrooms represent over 50 percent of all home indoor water use. By choosing plumbing products that carry the WaterSense label, homeowners can save a substantial amount of water, which in turn means lower water bills. The EPA states that “if one in every 10 American homes upgrades a full bathroom with WaterSense labeled products, the United States could save about 74 billion gallons of water and about $1.5 billion on utility bills nationwide per year.” The amount of potential water savings in this scenario is enough to provide an additional 500,000 families with potable water each year.
